Speaking The Land, a film created by renowned Scottish artists Dalziel+Scullion, will be screened
at The CatStrand as part of Dumfries Film Festival 2011, with introduction by dgArts Public Arts Officer, Dr. Jan Hogarth. Speaking the Land, a lens and story-based work in three short films looking at the landscape of Dumfries and Galloway, was made in collaboration with writers Robin Lloyd-Jones, Jay Griffiths and John Burnside.
The response from audiences to these films has been dramatic – ‘it’s like the closeness you feel if you lie in the grass and watch a flower’; ‘just beautiful’; ‘a wonderful, almost hypnotic experience’.
